Making verses memorable

prov3-5Every month in Parish Kids, we focus on a specific memory verse that we learn and repeat and discuss. In September, our preschoolers are learning Proverbs 3:5, “Trust the Lord with all your heart.” Our elementary kids are learning the expanded version of the same verse: “Trust the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding.”

Keeping this verse in a visible spot in your house can not only help your kids remember it, but can also prompt everyone to apply it! Write it on a bright piece of paper and stick it on your fridge or family memo board. Encourage older kids to draw a picture of what they think it looks like to trust God. Pray the verse with your kids at mealtime or bedtime: “Lord, we want to trust you with all our heart. Please help us do that instead of depending on our own understanding.”
