Daily Office Readings | 6.28.2015

This prayer (or Collect) and these scriptures are taken from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer.

Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Great question! It’s actually a bit complicated… The readings are on a two-year cycle (year A and year B), and they are laid out based on the week of the church calendar (for instance, this is the week “Proper 9,” the ninth week of the Season after Pentecost). The collects are arranged in a separate table, organized by the church calendar as well. This week’s prayer is the “Proper 9” Collect (“O God, who has taught us to keep…”). Thankfully, the internet makes this all much easier to organize!
